Too much diary, grains, nuts, seeds, eggs and meats are not the only causes of excessive acidity. Physical and mental stresses also produce acid residues which must be balanced to sustain good health. This article is about compensating for the effects of stress.

Physical Stress

Physical stress is not only generally unavoidable; it is beneficial for healthy persons to exercise all of the muscles in their bodies on a regular basis. As beneficial as exercise is, it results in the production of pyruvic, lactic and carbonic acids which must then be neutralized. Acid is neutralized with alkaline reserves in the body, if any are available. Once the alkaline reserves are depleted the body must draw from functional sources, such as bones, in order to maintain the narrow pH level that is required to sustain life. The body magnificently does whatever it can in order to continue living as long as possible under all the adversities we impose upon it. This includes robbing calcium from needed but non-critical parts like bones, joints, muscles, etc. in the hope that the being will soon find a source of alkalinizing minerals to restock the reserves and rebuild the parts which have been borrowed from.

Primary alkaline repletion sources are fruits and vegetables (except seeds, nuts and grains). Eating acid foods adds additional stress to the system, requiring neutralization of its own and therefore further depletes the alkaline reserves. This explains why so many athletes suddenly have fatal heart attacks in the middle of physical exertion – they exhausted their reserves, leaving the body defenseless against acidosis. For those who are acidic but do not exert to their limits, the ultimate result will be the same, but may come more slowly and painfully through other debilitating consequences.

Recommendations:

Eat a diet which will provide abundant alkaline reserves. If you have not already done so, download a copy of the acid/alkaline ash foods chart from HERE. Until you build up your alkaline reserves, limit your exercise to very low impact!

Mental Stress

Unlike physical stress, mental stress is seldom beneficial, and is to be avoided whenever possible. Studies have shown that anger, fear, resentment, jealousy and other “negative” emotions produce acidity of body fluids, whereas love, laughter, joy, etc. produce alkaline conditions throughout the body. Adding additional acidity from negative emotions to the combined results of acid foods and physical stress can put a body at critical mass, triggering any of the inevitable consequences of acidosis.

Recommendations:

Most mental stress is unnecessary and is avoidable for those who know some basic mental strategies. There are many wonderful books and audio programs to teach these strategies from authors like Gary Zukav (“Seat of the Soul”, “The Heart of the Soul”, etc.); Dr. Wayne Dyer (“10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace”, “There Is a Spiritual Solution To Every Problem”, etc.); Dr. Norman Vincent Peale (“The Power of Positive Thinking”, etc.); Shakti Gawain (“Creative Visualization”, etc.); Earl Nightingale (“The Strangest Secret”, etc.); Anthony Robbins (“Unlimited Power”, etc.) and on and on … One quick tip about mental stress: forgiveness has nothing to do with the forgiven – it has everything to do with the forgiver. Dumping your excess baggage leaves you "lighter" and more alkaline .

Advanced Recommendations:

If you are familiar with the concept of '100% accountability', take that awareness to the next level by reading the following articles about Haleakala Hew Len, Ph.D. and Ho'oponopono:

Alkalinity – the Master-key to Health

Although this article concludes the specific subject of acid/alkaline balance, it is the master-key to being healthy. You will see it mentioned or inferred in many future articles. Build up your alkaline reserves and you will be amazed at how much better you feel and how much extra energy you have. Learn all you can learn and do all you can do to build a huge alkaline reserve. It is like depositing pure platinum into your health bank account!
